LAUSD announced the grand opening of the Sun Kings Apartments, a new affordable housing complex in Sun Valley.
The 26-unit apartment complex was built with Proposition HHH funding and the work of Many Mansions, a non-profit organization that provides affordable housing to low-income residents of Southern California.
The apartments were provided in partnership with LAUSD for unhoused families with children attending local LAUSD schools.
Other funding sources include the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), the Multifamily Housing Program and Supportive Housing Multifamily Housing Program, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) Project Based Section 8 Vouchers and 4% tax credits as well as tax exempt bonds.
Some of the community amenities are a picnic/BBQ area, community room, on-site laundry,
community gardens and rooftop terrace. All units are LEED-certified, which provides a framework for efficient and cost-saving green buildings, which offer environmental, social and governance benefits.
