The eighth annual celebration of romantic golden age boleros returns with musical legend José Feliciano and local favorites Los Caramelos. LA trio Tres Souls, led by vocalist Rocio Libertad, will open the night singing.
The Grammy award-winning recording artist José Feliciano is elevating this year's production, which is taking place once more at The Ford Theater, revisiting his roots by preparing an all bolero repertoire performance. Among the many bolero classics he will perform are “Poquita fe,” “Cuando pienso en ti,” “Como fue,” “En mi viejo San Juan” and many more.
As one of the first Spanish-language artists to find an audience in the English music market, José Feliciano has earned nine Grammy awards and 45 gold and platinum records. With hits like “Poquita fe” and “Usted,” Feliciano makes bolero standards sound fresh and new with his distinctive acoustic guitar style that combines the traditional with jazz and American rock influences.
Los Carmelos from Boyle Heights will wow the crowd with their bolero-inspired jazz. The trio will pay homage to Tres Ases and Los Tres Caballeros, classic Mexican ensembles from the 1940s and 1950s that combined bolero with jazz.
Boleros De Noche, created by musician and producer Roberto Carlos, is an annual music event series launched in 2015 as an effort to preserve, uplift and celebrate Latin American bolero music in Los Angeles.
