Organizations like CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights) are preparing for a rise in demand for their support in the coming year, anticipating a surge in requests for assistance from immigrant communities.

This increase is expected due to concerns over policies and actions impacting immigrants, particularly plans for mass deportation associated with President Donald Trump. In response, CHIRLA and similar groups are currently holding vigils as a form of protest, fighting against these plans and advocating for immigrant rights and protections.

Donald Trump’s deportation push is expected as soon as he starts his presidency. He has said that he will utilize the military, diplomats and other government workers while implementing the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to draw legal challenges.

Just this week the organization hosted a vigil in Los Angeles and will be hosting another one next week in the Inland Empire.

“When immigrant families are under attack, we fight back! Join CHIRLA & partners for vigils in LA and the Inland Empire to raise our voices and use our power to keep families united and protected from deportations!” CHIRLA said via Instagram.

“Immigrants are resilient, defiant, and ready to defend our families, communities, dreams and the rights we deserve.”
