Los Angeles – Hundreds of students marched through downtown on Tuesday, joining a growing wave of protests against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. The demonstration, which took place just before noon, was the latest in a series of student-led actions denouncing Trump’s crackdown on immigration and his administration’s mass deportation plans.

Youth were spotted marching through the streets holding signs and banners in opposition to the president's policies. The march appeared to be peaceful, although there were some noted disruptions to traffic. The Los Angeles Police Department is closely monitoring the protest, which they have classified as “unpermitted.” The demonstration began near Los Angeles City Hall before participants marched toward Gloria Molina Grand Park.

Since Trump's inauguration on January 20, protests against his immigration policies have intensified across the country, with many of them organized by students. The first major protest in L.A. occurred on February 2, when demonstrators blocked parts of the 101 Freeway and several city streets. Police in riot gear clashed with protesters as street closures were enforced well into the night.

Since then, local high school students have organized regular walkouts to protest the administration's policies. In response, Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho alerted families to reports of fake ICE agents approaching students and assured them that the district is providing “Know Your Rights” cards to help immigrant families assert their legal protections.

The LAPD is monitoring today's protest closely, both on the ground and from the air, as the demonstration unfolds in opposition to the president's immigration agenda.
