The COACH for Kids program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center will hold a dozen free clinics across Los Angeles starting today. Caregivers are hitting the road in their mobile medical unit to help children get their back-to-school vaccines and to provide free medical care ahead of the school season.
The mobile medical clinic will make the rounds throughout Los Angeles to provide students with all vaccinations required by Los Angeles Unified School District schools, including diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, measles, mumps and rubella, as Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) students return to school for their first day of instruction next week. “Immunizations are a crucial part of keeping our children healthy and ready to learn,” said Arthur Cho, MD, medical director of COACH for Kids.
As part of COACH for Kids, the mobile medical unit meets the immediate medical, behavioral health and community needs of pediatric patients in underserved areas.
All children, from newborn to age18, qualify for free physical exams, childhood vaccinations, flu shots, COVID-19 vaccinations, pediatric hearing and vision screenings. They also qualify for pediatric laboratory testing and tuberculosis screenings. COACH for Kids is made up of a caring team of specialists, including a pediatric nurse practitioner, a family nurse practitioner, social workers, community health worker, registered nurses and outreach coordinator.
"Our mobile clinic is here to make back-to-school, and really, any time of year, as easy and accessible as possible for families throughout Los Angeles,” said Cho.
