Social Media Fellowship

CALÓ News is seeking a temporary social media producer who will support newsroom content creation efforts during a six-month fellowship, including highlighting election coverage, promoting in-house campaigns and optimizing community-centered stories. They must be adept at creating content that engages new audiences, converts them into loyal followers and drives them to our website. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work alongside CALÓ News editors and reporters to refine its social media strategy and promote published stories on social media.
• Propose captivating and insightful content that engages current followers and attracts new followers on our social media platforms.
• Manage publishing operations, including scheduling, posting and quality assurance across the newsroom’s social platforms.
• Maintain real-time communication with followers on social media.
• Support in the execution of social media ads when needed. Consult with editors to boost specific stories and content.
• Assist reporters out in the field with filming and editing videos fit for social media.
• Communicate effectively with editors and reporters to avoid publishing errors, delays or execution issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have experience with graphic design, video editing and on-the-street reporting videos.
• In-person, hybrid position. Must be able to commute to Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
