The Bakersfield City Council will meet on Wednesday, August 13, to consider a proposal to rename H Street in honor of César Chávez, the civil rights leader known for his tireless advocacy on behalf of farmworkers, especially Latino and migrant laborers across the United States.
The council members are taking their first vote this evening. If passed, the proposed resolution will move to the planning commission. The United Farm Workers are asking community members to show up and support the renaming of H Street to César Chávez Blvd.
