Soccer fans, the FIFA World Cup is over, but the golazos don’t stop as the Leagues Cup 2026 matchups have begun with the first round of Phase One matches underway, which means clubs from both the Major League Soccer (MLS) and LIGA MX will be hitting the field against each other.
One of the faceoffs is between Chivas de Guadalajara, MX versus Los Angeles’s home team, the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). Both teams are set to meet August 5 in L.A. at BMO Stadium, with the game starting at 7:00 p.m.
The historic matchup will be the first time the two teams meet in a tournament. In the past, the Chivas have faced the L.A. Galaxy on the field, but this next game in L.A. will be a monumental moment for both the Chivas and LAFC, as this is set to be the beginning of a new rivalry.
The fourth annual Leagues Cup 2026, which began on August 4, will run through September 6. The cross-border tournament features 18 select MLS teams and all 18 LIGA MX teams.
