The Los Angeles Rapid Response Network (LARRN), a coalition of more than 50 organizations, groups, and more than 1,500 volunteers throughout the Los Angeles County region, denounced the arrest of a man and an infant at a Home Depot in Cypress Park.
An LARRN first responder shot a video of masked federal agents detaining a man inside a vehicle with an infant strapped in the back seat. Federal agents are observed driving off with the infant after they detain and arrest the adult male. The location of the man is unknown currently, but the baby is back with family, according to People’s City Council.
"The LARRN strongly denounces the presence of armed federal agents at various locations throughout Los Angeles on a day when Angelenos are exercising their civic duty to vote. The presence of masked federal agents is meant to cause chaos, threaten our entire community and ultimately suppress our right to vote.” LARRN stated.
“The abduction of a man and an infant at a Cypress Park Home Depot parking lot demonstrates the crass and cruel nature of the racially motivated, random snatchings taking place in our neighborhoods,” the statement continues.
The LA Times reported the man is a 32-year-old U.S. citizen. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said the man was “wielding a hammer and threw rocks at law enforcement.” Immigration agents detained five immigrants from Guatemala and Mexico who are alleged to have no legal documentation during the operation at Home Depot.
The LARRN also denounced the staging of federal agents on Election Day at a Dodgers parking lot.
In a social media post on X, Gov. Gavin Newsom said the presence of federal agents in Los Angeles on Election Day is “a disgusting display of authoritarianism.”
Newsom blamed President Donald Trump and top Trump aide Stephen Miller, adding that they were “creating chaos in our communities so people who have the right to vote stay home.”
Federal agents were seen at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, a day after the team’s parade and rally to celebrate their World Series win.
