One of Latin pop music's greatest artists and singers, Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, most commonly known as Juanes, arrived in Los Angeles for his “Una Noche Contigo” tour.
The Hollywood Bowl, named one of the 10 best live music venues in the United States by Rolling Stone magazine, hosted the Colombian artist on Wednesday night, where he performed some of his greatest hits, spoke out about immigration and paid homage to another the late Latino and Mexican artist Juan Gabriel.
“Me, like many of you, also came here as an immigrant,” he said in Spanish during the concert before performing "Odio por amor," a song that talks about the power of love over hate. “I think this wonderful country has never had a more beautiful gift than all the people who have come from other places.”

Juanes, who has won 26 Latin Grammy Awards and sold more than 15 million records worldwide, said the city of L.A., which in the last month has been hit with ongoing ICE raids, has always been a special place in his heart.
“The first time I came to L.A. was in 1996,” he said. “I fell in love with this city and met some of the most amazing people here and everything changed for me in this city.”

The 55 year old artist also called for unity and said that despite what we see on social media and the fear that surrounds many communities, unity is important. “Now, more than ever, we need to be united,” he said.
The alternative pop-rock musician has captivated audiences with his lyrics and songs that talk about love, life and justice.
Throughout his career, he has topped the Latin Billboard charts various times with songs like “A Díos le Pido,” “Fotografia” and “La Camisa Negra,” among others.
Besides playing all of his hit songs, he also paid homage to Juan Gabriel, “El Divo de Juárez” who died in 2016, by singing a few of Gabriel’s songs, something he has done in various tours and performances.
“Juan Gabriel is our Elvis,” Juanes told Billboard in 2016.

With the accompaniment of a mariachi, Juanes played some of Juan Gabriel’s songs, including the hits “Se Me Olvido Otra Vez” and “Querida,” which they recorded together in 2015.
His performance at the Hollywood Bowl was part of Juanes’ U.S. and Latin American tour, which has a total of 14 dates. He is also performing in his birthplace in Medellin, Colombia.
