Northgate González Market announced the three student winners of its 4th annual Día de los Muertos Art Contest from elementary, middle and high schools throughout Southern California.

This year’s elementary school winner is Isabella Montes, 11, from KIPP SOL Academy Middle School in East Los Angeles. The middle school winner is Julia Lopez, 14, from Donald S. Jordan Intermediate in Garden Grove, and winning in the high school category is Angela Fernandez, 15, from James A. Garfield High School in Los Angeles.

This year’s theme was “Amor Eterno,” which asked the students to show through their art the rich cultural traditions of building an altar (ofrenda) filled with special food and memories of their loved ones.

“The talent and artistry of the students who entered the art contest impressed all of the judges and family at Northgate Gonzalez Market,” said co-president Miguel González. “We are honored to bring the traditional Mexican holiday to our customers offering them products and experiences to help them celebrate and remember their loved ones.”

Winners of the art contest received a Little Partners Deluxe Double-Sided Learn ‘N Play art Center, XPPen Artist Pro 14 Gen 2 Drawing Tablet, Drawing Tablet Sleeve Protective Bag and $100 Amazon Gift Card.

Their artwork has been featured on Northgate Market reusable bags and showcased at various Dia de los Muertos events, including Hollywood Forever.
