Lalo on CALÓ: The Great Wall of Allegations
A recent Los Angeles Times article alleges that art icon Judy Baca misused funds from a 5 million dollar Mellon Foundation grant. Former employees of SPARC, the Venice art center she founded are interviewed in the piece and they accuse Baca of using SPARC to benefit her for-profit art business. Many artists and colleagues that have known her for decades don't believe the accusations. Regardless, the Great Wall of Los Angeles is a masterpiece of muralism and of community engagement.
