LA youth make PSAs on how to #FlushSmart

Do you know how to #FlushSmart? Many Californians don't, and it costs public agencies across the state millions of dollars in wastewater treatment repairs and sewer overflow response. The Youth Cinema Project teamed up with the Responsible Flushing Alliance to have middle and elementary school students in Los Angeles produce public service announcement videos advising people to look for the "Do Not Flush" symbol on disposable packaging. The best PSAs were awarded prizes, with the two first place teams winning one thousand dollars per team. Contestants and their families were also treated to a red carpet awards ceremony April 20 in Bell Gardens, where the winners were announced and everyone watched screenings of the short films.
You can check out all of the PSAs on the Responsible Flushing Alliance's YouTube channel. For more coverage of what youth in L.A. are up to, follow our TikTok and Instagram @CaloNews & @Calonewsla
