Maná has been nominated to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The rock-pop band is the first Spanish-language band to be nominated.
“Maná are the most popular and influential Latin rock band of all time, selling more albums and concert tickets than any other Latin rock act in history,” states the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The Mexican band from Guadalajara formed in 1986, with their line up including vocalist Fernando “Fher” Olvera, bassist Juan Calleros, drummer Alex González and guitarist Sergio Vallín.
In 1987 they released their self-titled album but it was their 1990 album “Falta Amor” that launched them to fame with their hit song “Rayando el sol.” Their 1992 “¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños?” solidified their place in the top charts.
From the soft romantic rock pop melodies on “De Pies a Cabeza,” to the more rebellious “Me Vale,” Maná’s third album could be heard at every party and radio station.
In L.A., every rock en español club had to have on their playlist at least one or two songs from Maná to make people storm the dance floor.
The band has filled stadiums in Mexico, the U.S. and worldwide. Maná holds the record for the most sold-out shows at the Los Angeles Forum in a single tour, having played seven consecutive sold-out nights there in 2019, surpassing the previous record held by Kanye West and the Eagles.
