"Wednesday"

"Wednesday" returns for a second season on Netflix on August 6. (Netflix)

What better day than World Goth Day to write about the espookiest second season of “Wednesday”?

Netflix has released a sneak peek into Season 2 that promises to be spookier and kookier than the first season.

The moody protagonist Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, returns to Nevermore Academy and this time, the rest of Addams family is coming along for the ghoulish ride.

In the sneak peek, we see Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jenna Ortega practice fencing, a promise that Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia, will have more screen time this season.

“I feel really lucky to be experiencing this mother-daughter dynamic with someone as incredible as Catherine,” Ortega says in the video.

Pugsley Addams, played by Isaac Ordonez, will also be admitted into Nevermore Academy and he will have a special electrifying power. Hopefully he can find a friend, because Wednesday is obviously not interested in keeping his company.

One of the new castmembers is Joanna Lumley, who will play Grandmama.

“There’s always something thrilling about working with Tim Burton,” Lumley says. “The world they’ve created here, it looks sensational. This gothic [world], sometimes quite bone-chilling, but it’s kind of playful.”

Indeed, the second season of “Wednesday” looks like it will be a frightful delight.

The first part of the new season will be streamed on August 6, with the second part available on September 3. Each part will have four episodes each.
