On Tuesday, Community reporter "Richard LA" was shot at approximately 8:52 a.m., during an ICE-related incident involving federal agents in South Los Angeles. A U.S. Marshal was also shot in the hand by a ricochet bullet. 

Immigration advocates are encouraging voters to say yes to Prop. 50 on Nov. 4, calling it “the easiest election of our lifetime” since there is only one question on the ballot.

As CalFresh benefits are likely to pause due to the federal government shutdown, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he will be deploying California National Guard troops to support operations in the state’s food banks.  

Newsom also announced that the state is launching a first-of-its-kind state-issued insulin that will keep prices low for consumers, capping the average cost at $11 per pen.
