The Huntington Park City Council has selected Eduardo “Eddie” Martínez as the new mayor and Jonathan A. Sanabria as vice mayor, both serving one-year terms.
The council announced the selections on Feb. 6, after former Mayor Arturo Flores stated he was stepping down.
According to a press release,Martínez returns to the role with a continued focus on integrity, transparency and action, emphasizing community-centered leadership and progress on key city priorities.
“I am humbled and energized by the opportunity to serve as mayor once again,” said Martínez. “My leadership is rooted in respect and compassion but guided by the urgent needs of our residents.”
Martinez said the council’s priorities include revitalizing Pacific Boulevard, enhancing Salt Lake Park and advancing housing stability for every resident living in the city.
“Huntington Park is built by immigrant families who contribute every day to the strength of this city and ensuring that our community feels protected and supported is fundamental to our shared future,” he said. “Meaningful change takes time, commitment and collaboration, and I look forward to continuing that work together.”
Vice Mayor Jonathan A. Sanabria emphasized his commitment to principled leadership and collaboration in service to the community.
“I am honored to serve as vice mayor and to continue working alongside my colleagues to advance integrity, transparency and accountability in city government,” said Sanabria. “Our responsibility is to strengthen public trust, protect our families, and ensure Huntington Park remains a city where residents feel heard, respected and supported.”
