Journalists from LA Public Press, Capital and Main, Boyle Heights Beat and AfroLA will host a panel and conversation on immigration and the reporting efforts behind immigration enforcement and ICE raids happening in Los Angeles. 

The event titled “Reporting on Immigration: An Evening With Local Journalists” will take place on Thursday, July 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Historic Filipinotown.

The free event, organized by the LA Public Press and the Los Angeles Radio Club, will feature a panel made up of journalists and editors, including: Dana Amiher, founder and executive director of AfroLA; Jessica Perez, senior editor of Boyle Heights Beat; Jeremy Lindenfeld, reporter at Capital and Main; and Mariah Castañeda, audience director and co-founder of LA Public Press. 

“Panelists will share stories they’re proud of, offer reflections on what’s shaped their coverage and talk about the kinds of reporting they hope to see more of,” the event organizers stated on social media. 

Doors will open at 6 p.m. for light refreshments and networking. The official panel will take place from 7:00  to 8:00 pm, followed by closing reflections and open space for continued conversation.
