Homies figurines just released a new version of the iconic Mexican singer Vicente Fernández.
Homies creator David Gonzales announced the release via Instagram, with the figurine available beginning Friday, Jan 10 at www.Homiestoys.com.
Gonzales created Homies, which are two-inch plastic figurines that look like people that you would see at the barrio, in 1998. Many of the Homies are dressed in hats, bandanas, baggy pants and sunglasses too. There are also mariachi, military and clown Homies as well. Inspired by the homeboys he grew up with, the figurines were mostly sold in Latino neighborhoods. To this day he has sold more than 120 million figurines.
The collectible Vicente Fernandez Homie includes an intricate gold pattern along the all-white charro suit, sombrero and belt. The figurine is singing into a gold microphone and holding a bottle of tequila, a concert staple for the música ranchera artist who often took a shot or two on stage during his performances.
But this is not his first figurine. In December 2022, the first Vicente Fernández Homie was released; it was called “El Rey." The figurine was in a black and gold charro suit, with his famous line, “Sigo Siendo el Rey.” That figurine was part of the Gonzales Homies series #14, which sold out in minutes. “I need to go and start working on series 15 now, because ‘THE HOMIES WILL NEVER DIE...ONLY MULTIPLY!", said Gonzalez.
