Rob Reiner
Growing up in the 1970s, I voraciously absorbed all the TV sitcoms I could. This obsession led to a love of comedy and to aspirations for this child of Mexican immigrants to be a comedy writer in Hollywood. One of my favorite shows was the politically controversial "All In The Family," featuring the character of lefty activist Michael Stivic, played by Rob Reiner. 10-year-old me and present-day me were crushed by the tragic murder of Reiner and his wife Michele. This childhood influence on me- and on so many children today through his political activism (that actually improved lives) will ring through the decades. Rob Reiner and his work in Hollywood will be missed. RIP Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner.

Jose Lozano
The L.A. Chicano art community sadly sends off one of our great friends, artist Jose Lozano, who passed away last week. It was an honor to share art spaces with this funny and great maestro. He is one of the few artists whose work I was able to collect, as his artwork struck me as the obras of a great cartoonist. He captured human follies and emotions with humor and wit, and sharp honesty, not to mention an effortless flair. We will miss you, Jose.

Snow Day
Students attending school in the winter, mostly in the Midwest or the East Coast, get a Snow Day if a heavy snowstorm blankets their town then school will be canceled and kids can play all day. In Los Angeles, students have been not going to school out of fear of being terrorized and kidnapped by our own government. You can keep ICE Day.

Freedom from rights. USA, 2025
Maybe people are right, the USA is not how it used to be. The idealized Norman Rockwell vision of a bountiful American Thanksgiving is wonderful to gaze upon, but it's not what we have today. The much parodied original painting, "Freedom from want", inspired this editorial cartoon, "Freedom from rights." Brown people, mostly Latinos, in the US don't have rights, and I'm getting more and more disappointed with many Americans, and how okay they are with other people not having full rights.
Repulsive Home Depot noise
A Home Depot store in Los Angeles has installed noise making machines apparently to drive away day laborers, but its message seems to be spreading wider.

La Virgen vs. ICE
On December 12, El Dia de La Virgen de Guadalupe, (and every day) La Virgen de Guadalupe leads by example and battles the forces of evil.(Well, at least in this cartoon) I am proud of anybody who comes to the aid of immigrants under assault from ICE.

ICE ads en español
Why is Univision and Telemundo, the most trusted news sources for Spanish speaking television viewers in the USA running ads for ICE? These ads, like ICE itself, threatens our Latino immigrant communities that regularly watch these Spanish language networks. A quick message from our sponsors to Telemundo and Univision: PULL THOSE ADS NOW!
End family separation
We are all heartbroken when we hear about more and more families being separated by ICE and this rogue Administration. This country has to abide by its claims that it is pro-family, and stop ripping our families apart.
Adelita to the Rescue
Tucson's Adelita Grijalva lived up to her Mexican revolutionary name when she stormed into Congress after being denied her Congressional seat representing Arizona's 7th District for 50 days after her election. She was the deciding 218th vote on releasing the Epstein Files, which may implicate the current President in pedophilia, sex trafficking- or worse. Is there anything worse?
Beefing with immigrants
Trump Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defended the President's inability to stop rising inflation by doing what this bonehead administration always does- blame immigrants. On cable news, this moo-ron actually blaming undocumented migrants for not only bringing drugs, death and doom to the US, but also their "diseased cows". “...because of the mass immigration, a disease that we’d been rid of in North America made its way up through South America as these migrants brought some of their cattle with them,” Bessent said. For one thing, the biggest carrier of parasites is currently Secretary of Health and Human Services. But really, who doesn't remember their immigrant parents leading cattle drives up north as they were trying to evade capture by the Border Patrol? My brother Gerardo once flew in on Aeromexico, and was forced to buy seats for his herd, only to have them accused of sporting "gang brands" on their bottoms, and being members of Tren de Asada.
