ONTARIO– The new mixed-use sports facility Ontario Sports Empire has officially begun construction and is set to open in fall 2026.
The venue is being developed by the City of Ontario, The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), and the Greater Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).
The venue of 190 acres will have 20 multipurpose fields, 14 youth baseball/softball fields, eight full-size baseball/softball fields, four football/rugby fields, and two championship baseball fields, according to the press release for the groundbreaking event held on October 28.
The stadium, as part of the Empire, will be the new home for Ontario's Professional baseball team. It will be located south of the 60 freeway, between Ontario and Vineyard avenues.
"The Ontario Sports Empire will bring new jobs, boost tourism, and create lasting opportunities for our local businesses,” said Mayor Leon. “This project represents a key part of Ontario’s future as a regional hub for commerce, recreation, and culture.”
“This is a special day for Ontario and has been years in the making,” said SFC president and CEO Jason Clement. “When you look at this site plan in this market with this type of design, there’s nothing like it in the country. This will be a national destination.”
