After Karol G became the first Latina to headline Coachella, where she announced her upcoming tour, the artist has been making her mark in culture — even more, her distinct, vibrant style has inspired a wave of tropicoqueta-style fashion right ahead of summer. Bright pinks, oranges, turquoise and green sets and dresses have been popping right now, blending Caribbean, sun-drenched style with sensual, bohemian elements.
“I love Karol G. I feel like everything she's about definitely has spoken to me about becoming the woman that you want to become and never giving up,” said Alexis Vargas, co-owner of Vibes Boutique. “We did outfit inspo [during her last concert], and it was so much fun, the creativity that comes with bringing outfits together and doing campaigns to show those outfits.”
Vargas said that she feels like Latina-owned boutiques can give that “home feeling that maybe other stores or big brands can't give” in addition to providing outfits they might not find elsewhere. She also said that she hopes that having these outfits will inspire Latinas to be themselves and go against the grain like Karol G has.
In addition to finding fits for Karol G’s VIAJANDO POR EL MUNDO TROPITOUR concerts, which will take place at SoFi Stadium from August 14-16, Vargas said these can be cute looks for the summer.
“I definitely think that the orange and everything, that is the main thing for this summer, because it's just like the perfect timing, everyone's going on vacation too, all the outfits that can come from that tropical vibe,” Vargas said.
