Looking for a fun family event next week? Look no further, because the Boyle Heights Youth Festival is back this year with a free in-person event and special celebrity guests, including actors Xolo Maridueña and Xochitl Gómez, who will honor each youth contributor on stage.
This celebration of youth empowerment and community unity was established to address the rising violence impacting local families and youth during summer breaks. This event also represents collaboration and community spirit, supported by such esteemed organizations as Alma Family Youth Services, Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory, Casa 0101 and Healing Urban Barrios.
Throughout its festival expansion, it has served as a source of positivity and creativity for the community. Featuring great music, unique performances and a powerful message, this festival is a testament to the power of young voices, which is being led by individuals ages 13 through24.
Meetings taking place since February have led to the formation of entertainment, logistics, marketing and volunteer committees, shaping every aspect of the Youth Festival, ncluding special performances by local artists such as Adriana Padilla, Death To Maria, Ballet Folklorico Ramona Convent, Shaiel Arroyo, Amber Keys Band, Lauren Keys, Erika Stormm, Salsa Dance Team and many more.
Without the help of the additional community support organizations provided by Boyle Heights Technology Youth Center, Homeboy Industries, KQBH 101.5, Latino Equality Alliance, Pod Pals and Soledad Enrichment Action, this festival would not be possible, because they all contribute to the festival's vibrancy and reach.
So, make sure to plan ahead because there will be plenty of engaging activities, including live performances, a skate park, a rock climbing wall and over 60 interactive booths and raffles that cater to attendees of all ages.
