Green Day loves bringing fans on stage, and Coachella was no different. This time, a Mexican fan had the opportunity to sing with Billy Joe Armstrong.

When the singer asked her name, she responded “Stephany, from Mexico!” She then proceeded to sing part of the lyrics of “Know Your Enemy” and did not miss a beat.

Stephany Salazar posted on Mitu’s video on Instagram: “I had the time of my life with Green Day!”

Sometimes fans will even play the guitar or bass instead of singing but this time the Mexican fan was more than ready to rock out on the microphone.

I had the good fortune to see Green Day in Mexico City during their American Idiot tour and it’s definitely one of my top 10 shows. The energy they bring to their performance has not diminished and last month is proof of that when they headlined Coachella.

Yes, time has passed and there are newer acts that wished they had Green Day’s spot at Coachella (hint, hint Charlie XCX) but they are still making great music. Of course, so does Charlie XCX, which I’m sure Green Day is aware of despite Tré Cool’s response to the dance pop performers’ sash that read “should have been the headliner” with another sash that read “actual headliner.”

On May 1, the punk rock band from Rodeo, California received its star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame where fans greeted the band in celebration of this achievement.
