Jenni Rivera, aka "La Diva de la Banda," is finally receiving her flowers on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, 11 years after her untimely passing.

The regional Mexican singer became the recipient of the 2,783rd star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame last Thursday, as her five children; Chiquis, Jacquie, Michael, Jenicka and Johnny, accepted the star on their mother’s behalf.

The event began with about 250 fans lining the sidewalks on Yucca and Vine streets before security allowed them into the event, but quickly that number doubled as fans wanted to take part in the live banda music and emotional acceptance speeches from friends and family.

On July 2, many fans across all social media platforms celebrated Rivera's birthday. The Mexican singer would have been 55 years old.

As long as her fans, family and friends keep singing her songs, which are about love, heartache, and the challenges women face, "La Diva de la Banda" will always be remembered.

Her message of empowerment continues to be cherished by many, especially female fans from Mexico, Long Beach and Los Angeles.
