During the 38th annual Premio Lo Nuestro, Xavi dedicated his award for the Mexican Music - Fusion of the Year category to immigrants.
“Quiero aprovechar este momento para dedicar este premio a nuestra gente inmigrante,” he said in Spanish. “Recuerden, Dios tiene un plan para nosotros. No están solos. ¡Venimos a quedarnos y que viva México!”
(I want to take a moment to dedicate this award to our immigrant people. Remember, God has a plan for us. You are not alone. We came here to stay. Long live Mexico!)
He was the winner for his song “No Capea” with Grupo Frontera.
The award show was hosted by Thalia, Nadia Ferreira and Clarissa Molina.
It was broadcast live on Univision, UNIMÁS and Galavisión in the United States and streaming on ViX across most countries in Latin America.
Bad Bunny emerged as the night’s top winner, taking home six awards, including the Premio Lo Nuestro Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“DTMF”), Album of the Year (Debí Tirar Más Fotos), Urban – Male Artist of the Year, Pop/Urban – Song of the Year (“DTMF”), and Tropical – Collaboration of the Year (“Café Con Ron” with Los Pleneros De La Cresta).
Carín León followed with five major wins: “Crossover” Collaboration of the Year (“Lost in Translation” with Kacey Musgraves), Pop/Rock – Song of the Year (“Vivir Sin Aire” with Maná), Mexican Music – Male Artist of the Year, Mexican Music – Song of the Year (“El Amor de mi Herida”), and Mexican Music – Collaboration of the Year (“Si Tú Me Vieras” with Maluma).
Karol G secured three awards, earning Urban – Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“Latina Foreva”), and Urban – Collaboration of the Year (“+57” with Feid, DFZM, Ovy on the Drums, J Balvin, Maluma, Ryan Castro, and Blessd).
Maluma also claimed three trophies: Urban – Collaboration of the Year (“+57” alongside Karol G, Feid, DFZM, Ovy On The Drums, J Balvin, Ryan Castro, and Blessd), Pop – Male Artist of the Year, and Mexican Music – Collaboration of the Year (“Si Tú Me Vieras” with Carín León).
Yuridia also received three awards, including Best Female Combination – (Brujería with Majo Aguilar), Mariachi/Ranchera Song of The Year (Sin Llorar), and Mexican Music - Album of The Year (Sin Llorar).
Arcángel was recognized with the Premio Lo Nuestro Urban Icon Award. He also performed with Feid their song “Mírame Baby.”
Juanes received the Lifetime Achievement Award and delivered a career-spanning medley of his biggest hits, including “La Camisa Negra,” “Es Por Ti,” “Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor,” and “A Dios Le Pido,” while also performing his latest singles, “Hagamos Que” and “Una Noche Contigo.”
Los Bukis were honored with the Musical Legacy Award, Manolo Díaz was recognized with the Visionary Award and Paloma San Basilio received the Premio Lo Nuestro Award for Excellence.
Marc Anthony opened the awards with the television premiere of “Como en el Idilio.” He shared the stage for the first time with Nathy Peluso in his first original salsa duet with a female vocalist in more than three decades.
Cristian Castro joined Matisse for the television debut of their collaboration “Conmigo Sin Ti.”
Kany García and Maluma performed their hit “1+1.”
Sebastián Yatra took the PLN stage for the television debuts of “Canción para Regresar,” joined by Gente de Zona and “Una Vaina Bien,” alongside Silvestre Dangond.
Thalia worked double for the night performing “Dancing Queen,” alongside Gracie Bon, Paola Ruiz, Pollito Tropical and Wendy Guevara.
Codiciado, Gloria Trevi, Ha-Ash, Kybba, Mar, Maria Becerra, María José, Santos Bravos, Tokischa, Xavi and many more performed.
The show closed with Ryan Castro and Kapo delivering their song “La Villa.”
