El MIC (Media in Color) is a podcast that seeks to empower, engage and activate our communities with knowledge and information.
It's not your typical news podcast. Instead of having our journalists lead the conversation, we are bringing together community leaders and members. We need to hear from Latino leaders talking about the political issues impacting residents today.
On our first episode, we talk about the devastating LA fires and the effects of the toxic Lineage fire in Boyle Heights that are still under scrutiny. We take a deep dive into the effects of environmental racism on working class Latino communities and the fight for health equity.
Our guests Senator Sasha Renée Pérez, East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice (EYCEJ) community organizer Mark Lopez, and CALÓ News reporter Brenda Verano examine community-centered leadership and solutions to mitigate environmental disasters and empower residents.
Your co-hosts are community activist Fermin Vasquez and Carla Fuentes, President of the Los Angeles County Youth Democrats.
This is plática, política y pueblo. 🎙️
