Albert “Lefty” Olguin, who wrote the foreword to “Mexican American Baseball in the South Bay,” played varsity baseball at San Pedro High School from 1967 to 1969, earning All-Marine League honors as a junior and senior and All-City honors his final year. He later played at Los Angeles Harbor College. After graduating from Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he also coached baseball, Olguin became a college athletic director and associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds. (Photo courtesy of Albert “Lefty” Olguin)
