Stop the Dis video 2

Are immigrants really a threat to our safety? The second video of the ‘Stop the Dis’ discusses immigrant crime.

The second video of the “Stop the Dis” campaign was released today and this one tackles the immigrant crime myth.

“The truth is that immigrants are far less likely to commit crimes than native born people,” Al Madrigal states on the video as several stories flash across the screen from reputable sources that have confirmed the data with research and investigation.

The video acknowledges there might be localized places where immigrants are more prone to crime but on average that is not the case.

Even the term “illegal” is incorrect when someone is applying for asylum and is waiting for an answer.

By focusing on one crime, a practitioner of disinformation makes the public perceive that there are many more crimes happening. The video recommends checking facts in sites like CALÓ News, factcheck.org, factchequeado, El Detector and LatiNation.

CALÓ News, LATV and LatiNation have partnered with comedian, actor and writer Al Madrigal to produce a series of non-partisan short videos and news stories that will inform, educate and give people the tools to fight the spread of disinformation.

Are immigrants really a threat to our safety? Don't be fooled by the hype. Immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born citizens. Learn the truth and help stop the spread of disinformation. Hosted by Al Madrigal. Brought to you by Caló News and LatiNation.

“Stop the Dis” is a campaign to fight against voter disinformation in the media and most importantly social media.

From deep fake photos to AI robocalls to social media hoaxes, disinformation is likely to increase as we get closer to the general election in November 2024.

Madrigal is executive producer for the series, produced with CALÓ News and LatiNation Media/LATV. Executive producers are Jason Ross, Flavio Morales, Martin Albornoz of CALÓ News, and Andres Palencia and Bruno Seros-Ulloa for LatiNation Media.
