Lynwood Unified rejoins Metro’s GoPass program for the 2026-27 school year

The Lynwood Unified School District is rejoining the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) GoPass program for the 2026-27 school year. 

Through the district’s sponsorship with Metro and WSS, an apparel and footwear retailer, more than 10,000 students will have unlimited free rides on Metro’s buses and trains, as well as on other participating municipal transit systems.

“Our student services department and community schools team are proud to bring this resource back to our students and families,” said Lynwood Unified Community Schools coordinator Dr. Dawn Green. “Removing barriers is at the heart of this work. When families have one less challenge to navigate, our students are better positioned to stay connected, engaged and focused on their success.” 

Beginning today, September 21, students can use their GoPass to get to and from school and travel throughout their community and across Los Angeles County at no cost. That includes rides on the Lynwood Breeze Trolley and participating transit systems that connect students to museums, parks and beaches.

By providing students with unlimited, free access to our expanding network of buses and trains, we are doing more than just helping them get to class safely and on time. We are empowering them to explore the incredible museums, parks, and cultural hubs across Los Angeles County, opening a world of opportunity both inside and outside the classroom.”

Launched by Metro in October 2021 and made permanent in April 2024, the program now includes 128 participating school districts, charter networks and community colleges, as well as all Los Angeles Unified schools.
