Plaza México will host its annual Good Friday celebration on April 3, featuring a Passion Play in only Spanish that depicts the life, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The free, family-friendly event will include a performance by Cecilia Cruz’s International Group of Independent Actors, known as Gidai Teatro. The group is composed of 35 actors from across Southern California and has staged the Passion Play at Plaza México since 2013.
According to Plaza México, the production is intended to encourage faith and religious expression by presenting the story of Jesus’ journey. The play also highlights themes related to history, society, culture, spirituality and politics.
The Good Friday celebration will take place at Plaza México in Lynwood and is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
