The annual CicLAvia scheduled to take place in Historic South Central and Watts this Sunday has been postponed. Organizers of the event announced this Wednesday that, “out of care and safety for our communities during our city’s current situation,” the event would be rescheduled.

The community of South Central Los Angeles has been hit with a heavy ICE presence, with Monday being one of the days with more ICE agent sightings in the area.

All streets originally set to be closed for the open streets event on June 22 will now be completely open for normal business as usual, including all motor vehicles.

CicLAvia, which encourages Angelenos to spend a day without a car, announced it is committed to returning to these neighborhoods later in 2025, although no specific date was given.

“CicLAvia looks forward to walking, rolling, and recharging our joy batteries together soon,” the nonprofit wrote in a statement.
