Taste Salud, the Latino-founded powdered drink mix brand created by LA native and content creator Josh Leyva, has officially unveiled a limited-edition Hydration + Immunity Churro flavor.
Taste Salud, the Latino-owned and health-focused powdered drink mix brand, is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) with the launch of its limited-edition Hydration + Immunity: Churro flavor.
“Bringing the churro flavor to life has been a true labor of love, paying homage to our cultura and the traditions that shaped our upbringing," said Josh Leyva, co-founder of Taste Salud.
Betssy Diaz, who has been the marketing manager for Taste Salud since 2022, told CALÓ News that creating this new flavor was a team effort. “We really wanted to offer something to honor a flavor that feels so familiar and nostalgic,” she said.

Diaz also shared that although Taste Salud is rooted in Latino culture, it's really a product for everyone. “We wanted to create something families can enjoy together, especially with our hydration and immunity line. Kids, teens, adults and even your abuelos can enjoy this because it has electrolytes and immune-supporting benefits,” she said.
The churro flavor captures the warm cinnamon-dusted treats found at mercados, family gatherings and fiestas, now with two-in-one benefits for hydration and immunity and just one gram of sugar per packet. Each serving also provides 400+ mg electrolytes, 250 mg Wellmune, 100 mg elderberry and essential vitamins for a delicious and functional beverage.
Diaz, who comes from Latino parents, is very proud of her successful career at Taste Salud. “Being a dreamer and being in the place I am now, they definitely don't shy away from telling me how proud they are, and I think it really hits different when my dad is the one telling me how much he enjoys drinking our flavors,” she said.
Diaz shared that her dad, who works in construction, especially enjoys the Jamaica and Pepino Limón flavors. On hot days, he reaches for these nostalgic drinks, not just for the taste, but because the electrolytes help keep him hydrated and energized. He’s grateful for drinks like Taste Salud that not only support his health but also help him power through long, demanding workdays.
She also told CALÓ News that Latino-owned businesses should not only be highlighted during HHM but all year round. “From the beginning, when we launched with the Jamaica hydration mix, I think our mission has always been to again cater for Latinos but make sure we're able to include everyone in this brand.

On September 20th, Taste Salud is hosting a free community pop-up event, Churros for a Cause, in the city of Paramount. This special gathering is designed to bring people together and celebrate Latino culture in honor of HHM.
This event will also provide a safe space for their audience and community members to try their flavored drinks and become part of their Taste Salud family. Additionally, to mark the occasion, Taste Salud will donate 100% of in-person and online sales made that day to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF), supporting programs that uplift and empower Hispanic communities across the nation.
“We feel really grateful to be in a position where we can give back to our community in such a meaningful way. There are many incredible organizations and nonprofits doing important work, so it was definitely tough to choose just one,” Diaz said. “We ultimately decided to partner with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation because their mission really aligns with our founding values of uplifting the Latino community and creating opportunities that last beyond just one moment.”
