Lalo on CALÓ: The fridge is on fire
As the Lineage Logistics cold-storage warehouse fire continues to send toxic smoke over Boyle Heights, Gov. Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass have declared states of emergency to address the growing public health crisis. The disaster also raises a larger question: Why are residential neighborhoods located next to massive industrial cold-storage facilities like the Lineage warehouse in the first place? Lower income communities especially shouldn't have to live beside facilities that can pose such serious health and environmental risks.
