For the last episode of SNL’s 50th season, Bad Bunny was not just the musical guest, he was also featured in several sketches throughout the show with host Scarlett Johansson.
Bad Bunny had appeared in previous sketches when he hosted and was musical guest in 2023, but he had more lines this time, showing how the Puerto Rican artist is becoming more comfortable with his comedic chops. Are more shows and movies next on the horizon for Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio?
In one of the sketches, he exchanges extensive lines in Spanish with SNL castmember Marcello Hernandez, who is of Cuban and Dominican descent, as they discuss their choice in women. The sketch included captions for the Spanish portions. Johansson plays Bad Bunny’s partner, and cast member Ewo Nwodim plays Hernandez’s, both saying a few words in Spanish, although they don’t really make sense.
During his musical performances, Bad Bunny sang "NUEVAYol" and "PERFuMITO NUEVO ft. RaiNao."
In another sketch by the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy, Johansson takes the boys on a first-class airplane trip from New York to the distant location of… Newark, New Jersey.
Lately, Newark has been in the news because Newark Liberty International Airport’s traffic controllers have experienced outage issues, causing hundreds of flight delays last month.
During the sketch, the flight encounters a radio outage and who is at the air traffic control station? Bad Bunny, who is the only one there and it’s his first day at work.
The FAA is also dealing with a shortage of air traffic controllers at the airport.
