Last week, Karol G dropped her new single called “Latina Foreva,” which caused some controversy on social media, dividing her fan base by their opinions.

The Bichota’s new song combines simple lyrics with some explicit sexual references and, of course, a catchy chorus. The video also shows images of women in colorful, bright swimsuits in the snow.

Some social media users believe that her new song promotes stereotypes and hypersexualizes Latinas, while others are criticizing her for not mentioning Mexicans in this one specific song.

“Latina Foreva” has the same beats as “Oye Mi Canto" by N.O.R.E, which is known for mentioning a variety of Latina representations like Boricuas, Colombians, Cubans and Mexicans. Karol G’s new song only mentions Colombians, Venezuelans and Puerto Ricans.

It is no surprise that her biggest fan base is from Latin America but is she wrong for not mentioning all of the Latinas in the world? Many users on TikTok and Instagram have also called out the Bichota for not representing Afro-Latinas or Central American Latinas.

Although this controversy has certainly divided her fan base, some of her supporters aren't upset about not being mentioned. They also acknowledge that the song was created specifically for Latinas and feel it represents them as a whole, considering that to be enough. They also believe that not every song needs to include Mexicans and they will still support her music.

Karol G has yet to respond to her fans.
