L.A. County residents who qualify can apply to get a free Metro Tap card with 20 free rides every month.
The LIFE Program offers 90 days of free rides for new enrollees, 20 free rides every month loaded on your TAP card or a discounted transit pass for 16 participating operators.
Residents can now opt in to receive 20 free rides automatically each month, no need to load them manually. They just need to log in to their account at taptogo.net and opt in. Residents can also call 866.TAP.TOGO to opt in for the 20-ride benefit auto-renewal.
Residents must use their TAP card within 60 days to continue receiving their free rides automatically.
South LA & Pomona residents ride free for six months. South LA Residents can get a free limited-edition Nipsey Hussle Tap card plus six months of free rides when they enroll in Metro’s LIFE Program through the South LA Eco-Lab.
Pomona Residents enjoy six months of free rides through the Pomona ACTS project.
LA County residents qualify if they are currently enrolled in:
CalFresh
EBT
Medi-Cal
A reduced lunch program
SNAP
Social Security
Social Security Disability
TANF
Or, if they live in LA County and their household income falls within these limits:
$53,000 or less | 1 person
$60,600 or less | 2 people
$68,150 or less | 3 people
$75,750 or less | 4 people
$81,800 or less | 5 people
$87,850 or less | 6 people
$93,900 or less | 7 people
$100,000 or less | 8 people

Government-issued ID with an LA County address
Proof of income (check stub, Medi-Cal, EBT, Social Security award, tax return, or proof of public benefits) — or you can self-certify
