A historic match between Guatemala's two most popular soccer teams will take place at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles in Septembers in conjunction with a first-ever fair celebrating Guatemala's independence.

This event will provide an opportunity for Guatemalans who live in Los Angeles and surrounding areas to connect with their community, strengthen cultural ties and enjoy a festive occasion full of tradition.

The fair will taken over two  days, offering a variety of activities for the whole family, including live performances from Guatemalan and international artists, traditional Guatemalan food and cultural activities showcasing Guatemalan heritage.

The centerpiece of the celebration will be the Clásico Chapín on Sunday, September 14, where Comunicaciones FC and Municipal will battle for the Visa BANRURAL Independence Cup. This is the first time these two rival teams will play in Los Angeles. With over 1.8 millionGuatemalans living in Southern California—forming the third-largest immigrant community in the region after Mexico and El Salvador—a sold-out stadium is expected. Tickets for the match are available now on TicketMaster.

“We want Guatemalans living in Los Angeles to celebrate our Independence Day as if they were in Guatemala,” said Juan Luis Fonseca, General Manager of BANRURAL.
