Simón Silva.
Throughout Silva’s career, he has always admired the work ethic engendered by his upbringing, as well as the journeys he has taken across California, Oregon and Washington State. His art raises awareness of the often overlooked hard-working individuals and the challenging conditions Latinos usually face.
Silva moved to the United States at the age of one and a half. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Imperial Valley College in 1981 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Center College of Design in the fall of 1986. Silva's work has been exhibited both locally and internationally.

Like many who immigrate to the United States Silva’s family became farm workers and survived by picking fruits and vegetables. Silva started helping his family in the fields from the time he was in elementary school and until he was twenty-three. As his family was barely making ends meet, author Silva took drawing as a form of entertainment and communication in his life.
Silva hopes that when other individuals read this book, they will carry the torch and write similar books for other hardworking Latina mothers stories who are still yet to be told. To purchase “The Power of The Mujer,” click here.
