The Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice (IC4IJ)confirmed that six people were taken by ICE in Rancho Cucamonga as they were attending court.
Federal immigration agents are seen in videos arresting and taking people in several trucks and SUVs, many without front plates or even back plates.
"There were so many officers," IC4IJ hotline specialist Gaby Arteaga said.
Arteaga said they have been carrying out arrests in the Rancho Cucamonga court for several months.
She recommends that if people need to attend court, to consult with their lawyer if they can attend virtually or look for alternatives.
Arteaga said IC4IJ can also offer people to accompany them to court. Although they can’t guarantee that they will not be apprehended, it can bring them a level of comfort.
“Everyone has a right to fight for their case with dignity,” Arteaga said. “They should not feel targeted every time they go to court.”
IC4IJ also confirmed an arrest near Ontario Airport yesterday.
Javier Hernandez, executive director of the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice said in an opinion piece that "our communities are either being used as a training ground" after federal agents shot at a family vehicle with two U.S. citizens in San Bernardino last August.
If community members see any immigration activity, they can call the ICIJ Rapid Response Hotline at (909) 361-4588.
