Lisa Guerrero

Investigative journalist Lisa Guerrero will be honored with the 2026 National Journalism Impact Award from the National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation (NWCAVE).

Guerrero, a resident of Los Angeles, is best known for her 18-year tenure with Inside Edition, where she served as the show’s chief investigative correspondent. Lisa’s relentless pursuit of the truth has made a lasting impact on public awareness and accountability in issues ranging from consumer protection to human trafficking and cold case crimes.

Guerrero was born in Chicago, is of English and Chilean descent and grew up in San Diego and Huntington Beach.

Throughout her career, Guerrero has earned more than 35 national investigative journalism awards, including eight National Headliner Awards, two honors from the National Press Club, and nine Daytime Emmy nominations. Her work has led to criminal convictions, legislative reforms, corporate policy changes and global conversations—most notably, her viral interview with televangelist Kenneth Copeland, which reached over 500 million viewers worldwide.

"Lisa Guerrero exemplifies the power of journalism to uncover injustice, demand accountability, and give voice to the voiceless," said Sydnee Scofield, NWCAVE director of communications. "Her courage and tenacity have not only shaped public discourse but have also brought healing and justice to countless survivors and families. We are honored to recognize her with this award," said Scofield.

Beyond journalism, Guerrero is a best-selling author and popular keynote speaker. Her memoir, “Warrior: My Path to Being Brave,” has received widespread acclaim and is currently being developed into a scripted television series.  “Lisa continues to advocate for truth, justice, and empowerment through both her storytelling and activism,” said Michelle Bart, NWCAVE founder.

Guerrero is also an actress, has worked with George Lopez and was in the series "Sunset Beach."

NWCAVE’s National Journalism Impact Award recognizes excellence in news coverage of local, national, and international significance, with a single award for a journalist and/or those in television who use the power of media and his/her position to highlight the ongoing violence against others, including women and children.

Whether domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, kidnapping and abductions, hate crimes, gun violence, or other despicable crimes and violence against human life, a story delivered without re-victimizing and re-exploiting the victim(s) of abuse-related coverage are elements that will be considered for this award.

The award will be presented at Java for Justice, NWCAVE’s annual International Women’s Day celebration, on March 8, 2026, at 11 a.m., at the Heathman Lodge, Vancouver, WA.
