Telemundo host Myrka Dellanos responds after backlash for Mexico comments

Telemundo host Myrka Dellanos responded on air after she faced backlash for comments about the Mexican Government and Mexican people. 

In the talk show she is part of, “La Mesa Caliente,” she was very much in the hot seat when she began her statement about a U.S. document that indicates the Mexican government is allied with drug cartels. 

The document she refers to was issued by the Trump administration explaining the tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico. 

“It is a truth that the U.S. says. It is known,” she stated in the segment, claiming that the Mexican administration is linked to organized crime. She continued to say that many Mexicans agree. When fellow talk show host Veronica Bastos interrupts and starts to say "When this is proven...," Dellanos interrupts Bastos and says "All Mexicans who come from Mexico..." then she is interrupted again. It is unclear what she says after that statement because the video shows all the hosts talking and interrupting each other at the same time. 

“I have spoken to a lot of Mexicans who agree with this report,” Dellanos insisted before assuring the show’s audience after facing backlash over her inflammatory statements that only quoted one source without further investigation, that her job as a journalist is to report the facts. “I love Mexico so much. I have Mexican friends. I know it is a noble country, hard working,” she claimed.

“La Mesa Caliente” is an entertainment gossip talk show and usually doesn’t cover politics or works on investigative journalism.
