Juneteenth—also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day—commemorates one of the most significant moments in American history: the liberation of enslaved African Americans. The holiday marks June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that the last enslaved people in the state were finally free. More than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, the news of freedom reached those still held in bondage, making Juneteenth a powerful celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality. Today celebrations all across the country were happy, joyous and just fun- but they won't compare to that day we are anticipating...
