As reports of ongoing raids in Los Angeles continue to surface, many social media users are urging Latino artists like Bad Bunny to speak out and stand in solidarity with affected communities.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration intensified its immigration enforcement efforts, prompting widespread concern in the undocumented community. The raids have taken place in Downey, Montebello, South Central, Huntington Park, El Monte, Pico Rivera, Whittier and many other locations.

Many fans and social media users have been using their platforms to voice concerns and urge their favorite artists to speak out. One such artist is Bad Bunny, who has faced criticism for remaining silent on an issue deeply affecting his fan base, many of who are Latino.

But just yesterday the popular singer, rapper and producer spoke out after witnessing an apparent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid in Puerto Rico, which is where Bad Bunny was born and raised.

The singer shared a video on his Instagram story showing the exact moment several agents detained a group of people in the street, which sparked great concern on the island. The footage shows several people being loaded into unmarked RAV4s on Pontezuela Avenue in Carolina, a suburb of San Juan.

“Look, those motherfuckers are in these cars, RAV-4s. They’re here in Pontezuela. Sons of bitches, instead of leaving the people alone and working there,” Bad Bunny expressed as he was recording the video, and he also seemed annoyed by the situation affecting his community.

A TikTok user by the name of Reggaetón Talk was among the many who voiced support for Bad Bunny and addressed the backlash he had also been receiving. Ultimately he went on to defend the artist by stating that he has always stood by his people in his video.

NPR reports that more than 500 Dominican migrants have been detained in San Juan alone since Donald Trump assumed office. Bad Bunny has joined a growing number of celebrities, including Fuerza Regida, Junior H, Chiquis, George Lopez and others who have spoken out against ICE’s aggressive tactics targeting migrant communities.
